How do I send a picture?

Sharing pictures with your friends is easy ...

On your iPod, iPhone, or Android with the latest version of Kik:

To send a photo from your gallery:

  1. From your chat, tap the photo icon under Type a message...
  2. Choose a recent photo
  3. Tap Send to send the picture, or add a message to go with the picture before hitting send.

To take a photo to send:

  1. Tap the camera icon under Type a message...
  2. Take the photo
  3. Tap Send

Tips

  • Tap the screen to focus your camera when you're taking a picture!
  • If you're using an iOS device with the latest version of Kik, press and hold a picture in your chat to copy it. You'll then be able to paste the picture to send it in any chat. Just tap the "Type a message ..." field and then tap Paste.
  • You can preview a picture in your gallery before you send it. Just tap and hold the picture to view it in full size. Tap Use to add the picture to your message.
  • When you open your gallery, you'll see your recent photos. To view more of your albums, maximize your gallery tray by tapping the icon in the bottom right corner. You'll see the name of your album (Recent) at the top of the screen. Tap the drop-down arrow to select another album.

On your iPod, iPhone, or Android with an earlier version of Kik:
  1. From your chat, tap the + to the left of where you type your messages
  2. Tap Gallery to open your camera roll or photo gallery and choose an existing picture, or tap Camera to launch your camera and take a new picture
  3. Tap Send to send the picture, or add a message to go with the picture before hitting send.

Tips

  • If your iPhone or iPod has iOS6 installed on it, you'll need to give Kik permission to access your photos. Check out How do I give Kik access to my photos?
  • If your Kindle Fire device doesn't have a camera, you'll only see the option of choosing an existing picture from your gallery.

On your Windows Phone and Symbian:
  1. From within the chat, tap the paper clip at the bottom of the screen 
  2. Tap Gallery to open your camera roll or photo gallery and choose an existing picture or tap Camera to launch your camera and take a new picture
  3. Tap Send to send the picture, or add a message to go with the picture before hitting send.
Tip
  • Depending on the Symbian phone you're using, you might not be able to send pictures from your photo gallery. Can't see an option to access your gallery when you try to send a pic? Check out Why can't I send pictures from my gallery?

 

 
On your BlackBerry:
 
The app doesn't have photo sharing capabilities due to technological challenges with the BlackBerry platform. You can still receive picture messages from your Kik friends!
